W r i t i n g s - P o e m s
Some of the following may have started out as lyrics or might yet be married to a tune; others are just writings to be read - poems.
Here's the lyrics of the last song on my next album - Spiritual Warriors.
SPIRITUAL WARRIOR
Here's to the spiritual warrior, a part of the plan, doing what you can;
here's to the spiritual warrior, outside from in, lose or win.
Here's to you and what might be - as far as you can see;
here's to you, one for all - got up from the fall.
Here's to the spiritual warrior, time will change the view, for the most and the few;
here's to the spiritual warrior, conscious in the dream, floating upstream.
Here's to you, almost overtaken - you've partaken;
here's to you, eye wide awake - for its own sake.
You and I – eye to eye – no alibi – to justify – we'll testify – you and I.
Here's to the spiritual warrior, not a moment too soon, pyres burning, building blocks strewn;
here's to the spiritual warrior, beyond belief, steals from us our thief.
Here's to you, feet on the ground - hands, heart, head unbound;
here's to you, time for your turn - time to affirm.
You and I – eye to eye – no alibi – to justify – we'll testify – you and I.

This is the one I wrote today, walking on the hill on my birthday - it may well be changed.
STONE IN MY SHOE
When I'm out walking and trip over something I thought was there,
I could do the one thing to do,
Even though it would mean being one of the few:
Stop now, look around to see my place,
Bend down, untie the lace in this open space,
Take off the shoe, slip off the sock too,
Slowly and sensitively feel around the sole,
Find the small stone in the shoe,
Take it out and give it to who?
Stone in my shoe, stone in my shoe. I wonder how
But now, here and now, there's a stone in my shoe
Politicians walk among us, treading on our toes
Well maybe they too have a stone in their shoe.
They've got stones in their shoes, Ants in their pants
Lice in their hair and they don't know what to do -
But scratch their heads, fiddle with their groin and
Try to ignore the stone in their shoe.
When I'm dancing with you, to a rhythm you say you can't hear
And I wonder why you & I don't move our feet to the same beat,
I'll kiss you, sit you back down
Take off my shoe, slip off a sock too,
Get the stone from my shoe and
Make it vanish right in front of you.
